Creating personal website
October 20, 2022
For a long time, I wanted to create my personal website. I had no inspiration or a clear vision of what it should be.
When I was thinking through the concept, one of my initial goals was to make something that would describe me, something that feels like my place on the web. At the same time, I didn’t want to over-engineer my website with many distracting details, animations, and features. Instead, I want it to embody my values of performance, simplicity, and attention to detail.
Going through many iterations, I couldn’t settle on one, constantly experimenting with different ideas. Somehow I got into that loop of reimagining and redesigning something that has not been published yet.
I was thinking of what I want my website to be for some time, and highlighted a few points for myself. The website should have a simple, minimalistic feel with the attention to typography. It should be easy to read and cohesive to browse through. I imagined it to have the vibe of an archive or journal.
So here it is. A first version of my website.
It’s still very much in progress though, and things like colors or typography might change a bit. I also have a few ideas I’m working on, and planning to add them as soon as I feel they’re polished enough.
I’m shipping one of them now - sketches. I’ll be just putting my random experiments and explorations of different things on the web there. I’m still iterating on this idea and thinking about adding a simple playground with some controls and toggles so visitors can play with the details. I’m also planning to add a short description and code snippet for each sketch later. I’m adding the sketches page with a few experiments now, and will be gradually adding more later.
I’m also hoping to post here something from time to time - can be simple notes, deep-dive posts, or just random thoughts.
